Today, I finally finished all the tracking for the three newest orange line songs that we’ve been doing at Dragonfly Studios. I’m very pleased!
that I haven’t been able to play any video games! Sadness. Here’s the list of what I still need to get to, many of which are still unopened…
Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank Going Commando
Odin Sphere
Oblivion
Folklore
Naruto
Tales of Vesperia
Dark Sector
Heavenly Sword
Zack & Wiki
Resident Evil 4
Fallout 3 (as soon as Killmon delivers!)
Games i’ve started but haven’t finished:
Gears of War 2
Valkyria Chronicles
Mass Effect (downloadable content)
Ninja Gaiden II
Metroid Prime 3
Ico
It’s like “hmm… why do I buy these games if I can’t play or finish them??”
Also, I’m gonna get street fighter IV.
So I found a Sci Fi channel spot that didn’t have any audio, so I decided to do the audio work to add it to my portfolio. There PROBABLY is a finished version of this out there somewhere, but I kinda don’t want to find it… if you know what I mean.
Original sound design and original music. Let me know what you think!

So here’s my attempt at a hip hop beat. I think I got it pretty accurate. I did some research, apparently it’s really just one main beat idea (usually on the simpler side) that repeats ad nauseum while some dude raps over it.
So I just have my main idea repeating, and then at various points I add or remove certain elements so you can hear how it would sound like with a different combination of instruments. I also don’t know how commercially viable this type of track is as an instrument track…. thoughts?
Well, I was researching some garden-state type indie music and stumbled upon this girl from CA doing a cover of “Follow You Into The Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie. That particular version was so-so in my opinion, but this girl really has “it.” She already seems to be a YouTube phenom, so I’m sure that will eventually translate into commercial success. But IMO, her voice is pretty awesome, she can play guitar, and her songs are pretty good too.
Also, she’s half asian. Nice.
edit: Apparently she won a competition and had a youtube video aired during the 2008 superbowl and was signed to interscope records. So, maybe we will be hearing her on the radio afterall…
